I went to an evening of feminist theatre last night…think you would have enjoyed the second piece – 3 men writing/talking about issues related to being a woman, but from their perspective. Sure, they knew nothing about what its like being a woman, but it was interesting to hear about what they had to say about things like love/sex/chivalry etc.
Hey! I know that as a familiar feeling as well! Yes, the “men” nowadays are too self-centered and abosorbed only in themselves. I have pretty much given up on thinking they are somewhat “needed” on this planet. They are a cancer doing nothing but hurting others and each other and we should make a pesticide called “Man Raid” for the really bad ones!
I often feel isolated and lonely, although I’m living in the largest planned community [suburban sprawl] in New Jersey and I’m surrounded by cars and people and little yappy dogs. The daily life of taking care of children…no man understands. Even my husband, who works from home and is witness to the daily whine and grind, just doesn’t get it sometimes. I left a task for him, to make lunch for us on a recent day trip, and he totally forgot to pack anything for his daughters. “Us” somehow just meant him and me. I had to remind him that almost five years ago we had our first child. And she needs to eat, too.
Thank you all for empathizing with me.
Ellie that would have been RIGHT up my alley!
Anonymom~ Ugh. They can be such knucleheads. I had class yesterday and when I left there were just a few breakfast dishes in the sink, and I come home and there is a mountain, AND the counters are filthy like they just threw food around. And he’s sitting on the bar stool reading. I was lit. You’re right, they’ll never know what it’s like even if they see it with their own eyes.
I think men have some serious problems anyway…no, I know they do. I’ve learned enough already in my Psych classes to know the differences are real. I think I’ll take some time later, break out the book and actualy blog how different, scientificly, we are. I dare anyone, then, to say we are not the superior gender! : )
